Car Khata
Every rupee you spend on your vehicle, in one place.
Car Khata is a free Android app for vehicle owners in India. It keeps a record of fuel and charging, service visits with their bill lines, FASTag tolls and every other expense, works out mileage and running cost per km, keeps your RC, insurance and PUC with their expiry dates, and reminds you before anything is due.
What it does
- Fuel and charging: petrol, diesel, CNG, LPG, electric and hybrids, with mileage worked out from full tank to full tank.
- Service: a quick total or every line of the bill, garage by garage, with reminders for the next service and parts that wear out.
- FASTag tolls: if you allow it, toll messages from your bank are turned into entries waiting for you to confirm. The FASTag Annual Pass is supported.
- Other expenses: insurance, tyres, battery, wash, parking, fines, loan EMIs and your own categories, including payments that repeat.
- Digital Glovebox: RC, insurance, PUC and driving licence scans with expiry reminders, readable offline.
- Reports: spend by month and category, cost per km and total cost of ownership, for one vehicle or all.
- Export: everything as CSV files for a spreadsheet, and import from one.
Private by design
Car Khata has no server and no account. Your records stay on your phone. Nothing is sent to us, ever.
There are no ads and nothing to buy.
Why Car Khata asks for access to your Google Drive
Connecting Google Drive is optional. If you connect it, Car Khata uses Google's drive.file permission
to save, in your own Drive, a daily backup of your records, copies of your documents and bill photos, and a sync
file for a second phone signed in to the same Google account. With this permission Car Khata can see only the
files it creates; it cannot see anything else in your Drive. These files stay in your Drive under your control,
and are never sent to us or anyone else.
Other permissions
- Notification access (optional): to find FASTag toll messages. Other notifications are ignored and never stored.
- Location (optional, only while you add a fill-up): to find the fuel station you're at. It's sent to Google Maps to look up nearby stations.
- Notifications: for reminders and detected tolls.
